My Zune 30 is Dead (and so is everyone elses)!

by Trevor Greenfield

How strange.  Here I am a solid 9 years later and I’m still laughing at the y2k bug that never really happened (or maybe it did but by then it was all fixed), and yet I am the joke of the y2k9 bug.

It seems that the Zune30, Microsofts 30GB portable media player, is having a universal problem across the globe – the screen freezes on bootup at the 100% mark or performs a BSOD if turned on, and nobody knows how to fix it yet.  You can’t take it apart and do a hard reboot, it won’t charge, and it won’t do much of anything.  Mine is currently sitting on the 100% mark, just burning battery.

Still.. I anticipate it will be fixed, and I don’t regret my purchase of this over the ipod.  It’s different, it works worked well, and stores stored a lot.

The Zune team is apparently working on a fix, but nothing has been announced or posted as yet.
